Sterilisation Centre for Dogs & CatsLega Pro Animale was established in 1986 by German veterinarian, Dorothea Friz. After she studied in Munich, she worked in Greece and finally in Naples where she worked as a veterinarian. Here she got to see a classic Italian animal home, in which more than 450 living skeletons suffered. The dogs all lived together, many were sick and reproduced uncontrolled. Dorothea could not walk away. She acquired a plot of land and the Lega Pro Animale Sterilisation Centre for Dogs and Cats was established.
We also provide training courses for veterinary students and offer educational facilities for scholars teaching young people about responsible pet ownership and the importance of sterilisation.
Lega Pro Animale's main objective is to reduce the stray problem in southern Italy by sterilising dogs and cats. Dorothea and the veterinary team also travel throughout Italy with the 'Spay Mobile' to 'trap, neuter and return' stray animals, highlighting to people that there is a humane way to decrease the dog and cat population.
Our sister organisation, Fondazione Mondo Animale, was founded to raise awareness and promote respect for domestic animals by providing information, training and educational facilities.
BOARDING KENNELS AND CATTERY
Our boarding facilities are built to the highest standards to ensure the very best levels of comfort, safety, hygiene and security for your cats and dogs whilst in our care. Our kennels are spacious with individual runs, shaded terrace and separate cleaning equipment for each kennel. During the day, dogs can also have additional exercise and play in our secure garden if requested, for an additional fee.
Our separate cattery works off a corridor system for maximum security. Each unit has a fully enclosed sleeping area with cat flap. These open to an individual run, which is covered to provide shade/shelter. Separate cleaning equipment is used on each unit.
Owners also have the added peace of mind knowing there is a vet on site to check your pet each day. For more details of pricing and availability please contact us.
